PENDLETON — The Oregon East Symphony announced the winner of its 2017 scholarship at its concert on Saturday, April 22. An award of $1,000 was presented to Kalli Hubbard, a graduating senior from Pendleton High School.
Hubbard has been an active participant in the Symphony throughout her high school career, taking part in the A Sharp Players preparatory orchestra, being a teaching assistant with the Symphony Strings program, playing in the Oregon East Symphony as part of the Raising the Bar mentorship program, and as a youth representative on the Symphony Board of Directors. She plans on attending either Brigham Young University-Idaho or Utah State University.
The Oregon East Symphony scholarship is presented to a graduating senior who has participated in one or more symphony programs, has a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and plans on attending a four year college or university.
This year’s award was presented in honor of Shirlee McGreer, a longtime supporter of the Symphony.
