SPOKANE — Local students were awarded degrees during spring commencement ceremonies at Whitworth University:
Heppner: Rebecca Jepsen, Bachelor of Arts, health science (summa cum laude).
Hermiston: Philip Sexton, Bachelor of Arts, business management; Nolan West, Bachelor of Arts, political science.
Pendleton: Nicholas Anderson, Bachelor of Science, biology (cum laude); Hannah Hale, Bachelor of Arts, elementary education/special education (cum laude).
Located in Spokane, Whitworth is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church. The university, which has an enrollment of nearly 3,000 students, offers 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
